Hello everyone, I am a Linda Hayes, a Canadian Real Estate Investor, Chartered Accountant, and Buyer’s Rep in Belize.  I have been investing in real estate for many years and my specialties on the investing side include tiny homes, laneway homes (aka garden suites, granny flats, and ADU’s), and short-term rentals. Here is Linda’s story:

After reading the book “The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner”, by David Bach, I was hooked on real estate. I bought my first rental property in 2006. A lesson that has been reinforced time and time again is that while finding good information and competent people can be tough, it is critical to success and growth. The internet is full of information which can make it tough to find useful, consistent, relevant content. This is the motivation behind my company “Look Before You Leap”. As an accountant, part of this refers to looking at the numbers but there are many other facets as well. I have hosted many real estate investing lunch and learns through past accounting positions and through my builder network. I also teach a session on budgeting with YEGarden suites and teach courses on International Accounting.

 

My journey into International Real Estate started with an introduction to www.realestateguysradio.com in 2020. Through the Real Estate Guys Radio, I discovered that Belize was a market worth looking at and later, I realized it was a place to call home.
